A study has been introduced appeared at the International Conference on Alzheimer’s that was held in Toronto last July.
Resveratrol is a natural phenol present in red fruit, chocolate, red grape and consequently in red wine. And a study by Georgetown University suggests that this substance could be a barrier to prevent harmful molecules infiltrating into the brain.
According to the research that has been presented this July at the International Conference on Alzheimer’s, the administration of resveratrol made the cognitive deterioration of patients decreased compared to a group of patients treated with a placebo.
The study suggests that resveratrol could be a kind of control, such as a border fence to the brain where the substance excludes unwanted molecules that could increase brain inflammation and kill neurons.
Wine, red fruits or dark chocolate are not the definitive solution to fight Alzheimer’s, but it seems that it can be a good complement to other treatments.
